June 2008: Our Latvian Mitten Knit Along went well; the page is still available for those who wish to knit over the summer. Our next Knit Along will take place in September with author Joyce Williams guiding us through knitting two socks on circulars (she'll describe her one sock on circulars method as well).

Have you noticed our Spanish translation of The Baby Surprise Jacket? Liesl Monroy, Elizabeth's granddaughter, translated the pattern this past spring. The Baby Surprise Jacket is currently being translated into French as well; The Baby Surprise Jacket - trilingual!

2008 marks our 50th anniversary! In 1958 Elizabeth Zimmermann independently published her first newsletter pattern, paving the path for the business that has become Schoolhouse Press. Elizabeth had been selling wool since 1957 but in 1958, dissatisfied with the way her patterns were re-written, Newsletter #1, now reprinted in original form in The Opinionated Knitter, was born.
