Meg Swansen's Knitting Workshops

British and Dutch Guernseys Knitting Workshop

October 1-4, 2015

A link to the online application will be placed here from March 1st, 2015 to March 3rd, 2015. All applications will be accepted during this time frame. If there are too many applicants, we will draw names lottery style to determine participation.

Workshop Description:

In the fall of 2015, our knitting topic is British and Dutch Guernseys. We will bring pertinent example sweaters and books for inspiration. We will also discuss the history of this traditional garment.

Featured techniques include: Purl-seams, gussets, shoulder straps, and Channel Island Cast On, along with a variety of stitch-patterns.

As always, our knitting workshops are both instructional and conversational; our knitting discussions can go in any direction according to the wishes of our participants.

After the application period has drawn to a close, knitters will receive more information about possible homework, though homework is usually optional.

Please read General Workshop information below.

Dear Knitters,

Schoolhouse Press is now offering one workshop each fall in addition to our regular summer knitting camps/retreats. Meg Swansen and Amy Detjen co-teach the fall workshop which is based on a different topic each year.

We limit workshops to approximately 25 participants, so each knitter will have ample opportunity to ask questions and receive individual feedback. We held a variety of workshops with different themes from 2007 to 2014, and we look forward to welcoming a group of knitters in fall of 2015.

The workshops take place at the Holiday Inn Conference Center in Marshfield, Wisconsin where we hold our summer knitting camps. The workshop includes an afternoon visit to the Schoolhouse Press warehouse to shop and explore "The Sweater Room," where all the knitted treasures of EZ and MS are stored.
