Lace or Garter Pelerine - SPP57
Knit Elizabeth Zimmermann's Pelerine design in either a lace or garter stitch version. In 1977 EZ wrote: "You may wear it over anything: turtlenecks, other sweaters, or summer dresses. When it was designed we hunted for a descriptive title. Jettisoning Ponchillo and Capelet as somewhat coy, I dug back into 19th Century novels, old issues of "Punch" magazine and my remnants of French and found Pelerine (which is also in the big English dictionary) - a short cape derived from the French for pilgrim. So Pelerine it is; I like to think the first one in 100 years." The garter stitch version shown on the cover was Tami Robus's first knitted garment, so she can verify that the instructions are "very easy to follow."
Below is a video of some of our knitting campers showing and describing the pelerines they knit for Camp 2016!
